Christmas Presents

Well it looks like Santa really brought the cheer (and some cool presents) this year. That kind of rhymed...Anyway, just wanted to share some info on some of the gifts. This year I received three items from the Scottevest catalog. These guys really have some neat clothing. In particular I got their Soft Shell Jacket, Fleece 5.0, and the Microfleece Pullover. If you like being organized, and like to carry your gadgets with you, I encourage you to check out their website: http://www.scottevest.com/index.shtml

Not Shiny, buuuutttttt.........

OK,

While I normally post about something of a mechanical/electronic nature, today is going to be different. I just ordered a new motorcycle jacket and pants combo from a company called "Motoport". Having shopped around for the right gear to wear while riding, I was lucky enough to stumble on their fine products. I could go on and on about how well made and how well they perform, but you should be the judge. Please go to their website and have a look around. Be sure to read the article "Save Your Hide", quite the eye opener. Before you buy your next riding jacket or pants, please at least have a look at Motoport, you won't be disappointed.

We did it!

Hi folks,

Well we did it. We bought a 2009 Suzuki DL650 ABS VStrom. Gotta say, I really like this bike so far. It isn't exactly a "scare the crap out of you" fast bike, but it handles really nice, and is comfortable to ride too.
We already ordered a bunch of add-on's such as engine protectors, sliders, Hyper-Lites, protective film, wheel stripes, and even an expansion fuse box for adding electronic gadgets. Here are the places I've purchased from in case you're wondering where to start shopping for those kinds of things:

Another Motorcycle???

Well it looks like we'll be adding another motorcycle to the garage. Actually, we have a 2007 Honda Rebel we just bought yesterday, but alas, it is too small for our new rider. We are debating all of the different choices out there and have narrowed it down to a few:

http://powersports.honda.com/2009/interceptor.aspx
http://www.kawasakiversys.com/

http://www.suzukicycles.com/Product%20Lines/Cycles/Products/V-Strom%20650/2009/DL650.aspx
http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/us/en/index.html
These are just a few of the many choices out there, it's really a matter of finding one that fits your needs. Not looking for cruisers, dual sport, sport, or hyper-motard types. We are trying to find a decent mid-sized bike that will work both in town and on longer trips. Wish us luck!

MV Agusta

Anyone here ever heard of MV Agusta? No? Well, you should know that they are some of the most beautiful and technologically advanced motorcycles out there. If you get a chance, go here to read about them: http://www.mvagustausa.com/web-mvagusta/community.html
One of these days I'll have one in my garage, preferably one like the image above.

Sidearms!

Been looking at training classes for concealed carry. I was directed to check out this site:
http://www.frontsight.com/ I've been told this is one of the best out there. They are running a special right now that licenses you in 30 states. Worth a look if you are interested.

Lanyards!

I found some neat videos on YouTube on how to tie decorative knots and decided to make some lanyards for all my gadgets. A guy that goes by "Stormdrane" did the videos and has a blog with a lot of his creations. I bought some 550 paracord (the stuff the military uses for parachutes and other rigging), some split-rings for attaching, and some neat little skull beads to add some flair to the lanyards. I'll post any pictures when I get some of them done.

Found Cool Shiny Objects!

Found this Blog on Google Reader: http://atwoodknives.blogspot.com/. This guy makes some very cool and practical pocket tools. I love it when people put their creativity to use and share with the rest of us. I just hope I am lucky enough to win a lottery to be able to purchase. Speaking of shiny objects and tools, I was just told today that I can put a list together of tools that I want for our next project! I get to do some serious tool shopping...hehehe.

Entertainment!

Well,
I went and saw Penn & Teller for the first time since living here in Las Vegas. A very good show that is worth a look. As well, you should check out their program on Showtime, very entertaining.
I got a Blackberry Bold for my birthday and I must say I really love it. It is through AT&T. I have found that there are several community sites dedicated to Smartphones and Blackberries, such as www.Crackberry.com, www.blackberryforums.com, www.Pinstack.com, and www.BlackberryOS.com. Lot's of helpful information on these amazing devices. Trust me, if you get one you'll never go back to a normal phone again!

Cars!

Who likes cars? I do! I particularly like Volkwagen's. I currently own a 2001.5 Passat Variant (Wagon) and a 2002 GTI (337 Version). I have found a TON great websites that cater to the VW crowd. Some of my favorites: www.vwvortex.com, www.passatworld.com, www.parts4vws.com & www.worldimpex.com. Oh yeah, forgot to mention www.vw.com!

Google Reader

For those of you who spend time online and haven't got a Google account, do it! It's free and there are a ton of cool features. I really like Google Reader. My favorite thing to follow on it are the new posts from Make:. If you are like me and like gadgets and creativity, this is something you should check out.

Tattoos

Well, I am considering a half-sleeve tattoo on my right arm. I kind of know what I want, but I am a little picky. Having a little bit of an artistic side I am very particular on what I put on paper (detail wise), so am having a hard time deciding on all of the elements. I know that depending on the tattoo artist you decide to go with, you have to give them artistic license to create. But, I am not going to be very happy if ink isn't exactly what I want. I do not want to have any regrets when it comes to this!

Sci-Fi

Well, I have been reading a lot of Sci-Fi lately. Right now I am reading Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi. I've already read Old Man's War and The Ghost Brigades by him. Great books!. I am also reading a series of books by John Ringo. I guess you could call them military Sci-Fi themed. So far I've read A Hymn Before Battle and Gust Front, and am now reading When the Devil Dances. Another great author and series!
Just caught a cool viral advertising thing last night on TV. Have you heard of the movie D-9? During MadTV last night there was an ad for D-9 and it said to call 1-866-666-6001 to report any non-human sightings. The recording was done very well and is a little creepy. Check it out!

Motorcycles

I am almost done adding things to my 2006 Triumph Sprint ST (ABS). So far the things that I have added or changed are: Trident Exhaust System, Speedo Healer, 18 tooth front sprocket, LED turn signals, homemade axle sliders, LSL handlebar riser kit, Throttlemeister, HID headlight conversion, Corbin Gunfight & Lady seat, Michelin Pilot Power Pro tires (2CT), Stebel Compact Nautilis horn, helmet lock, Ventura headlight protector, RKA tankbag, Autocom electronics and MRA double bubble windscreen.
My favorite website for info on my bike is www.triumphrat.net. There is a great community of Triumph fans here, with loads of helpful information.

Music

Just finished watching several Dream Academy videos on YouTube. What a shame that they were more successful, each one of the performers are talented musicians. Sugarland's version of "Life in a Northern Town" is done very well.
